Introduction
Hit, set, bump, and spike. 4 years of volleyball honored on one night. These seniors have many skills that make this team great.
During Colonia Boys’ Volleyball senior night, it was a tough fight against Woodbridge High on Monday, May 18. The boys were not victorious on this night, but played hard. They were led by their head coach, Jennifer Blash. However, they lost 2-3.
Inside view
A couple of seniors gave an inside view of what really happened that night and what they feel.
Oluwadamilola Gidado, an outside/middle blocker, is 17 and 6 feet. He stated, “ I played middle blocker on senior night. And I played great on senior night. But the senior season as a whole has been meh. Joel and I combined for 28 kills, and the game was great.”
Nico Sanchez, a 5’10 ” outside hitter. He said, “ I thought the game was good competition, even though I know we were the better team. I think they played. Personally, I think I played well. My serve receive was solid, and I got a good amount of kills on them. Overall, I think it was a good game despite the outcome.”

Brayden Vargo, a 5’9 player, said, “I played libero on senior night, and I played pretty well on senior night. I did make some mistakes, but those happen, and I think I kept high energy and kept the morale high on the court, and it was a really good and competitive. Even though we lost, I thought we all played well as a team and stuck together.”
Joel Velez, a 5’10 outside, quoted “ I think I played well until like the 4th set, where I kinda got in my head, but all around I played well and contributed a lot. The environment was great, everyone was loud and cheering for us to win. Although we lost, we did well as a team and played together. I still had fun playing, and it was a fun and competitive game.”.
Amarius Alba a Opposite hitter and a Middle blocker said “I did my best with the time I had in the game, and had fun going against Woodbridge and playing positions different from what I usually play. The senior season as a whole has been “okay” but as far as my teammates go, I’ve had nothing but fun and a good time playing with such talented teammates. Although we lost, I’ve created memories I’ll never forget.”.
